APIYN is calling all indigenous youth to submit their entries/contributions for the following:

Category 1: Songs for the Album
Category 2: Literary Folio
Category 3: Sketches, Darawings, and Photos

General Rules

Entries must be original, unpublished and unproduced compositions of an individual or a group of young indigenous peoples below the age of 30.
Compositions shall deal on a wide range of environmental issues such as forest degradation, climate change and global warming.
Use of native language is encouraged but, all entries must have English translations. If one is not provided, APIYN shall facilitate its translation.

Literature and Visual Arts

Writers may submit poems, short stories or short plays for the folio.
Selected entries will be published in a literary and arts folio.

Music

Winning entries will be produced and recorded by APIYN with a group of artists to be headed by Dap-ayan ti Kultura iti Kordilyera and released in time for Indigenous Peoples’ Month 2008.
A complimentary copy of the album and other prizes await the winners.
Songs that will not make it to the album will be considered for the literary folio.

Participants are encouraged ro submit their entries before the deadline. Deadline for submission is on October 30, 2008.

However, many Indigenous Youth today are physically and psychologically removed from their culture and traditional life. Indigenous Youth require special assistance so that they can regain and preserve their cultural heritage and enjoy free access to their traditional lands and sacred sites. Continued damage to the environment threatens the survival of many Indigenous Peoples. Because their cultural identity and heritage is inseparable from their traditional lands, the protection and conservation of the environment is a priority for the Indigenous Youth”
